Very important information yesterday that the pilots pointed out: In their opinion, their proposal (westerly approaches) has better safety because the ASA proposal actually has the southerly arrival flight paths crossing the departure pathfor arrivals/departures on the new “13” runway!

The pilots looked at alternative flight paths & came up with a simple solution. The solution had NO CROSSOVERS of flight paths.
SO SIMPLE – SO SAFE
RUNWAY 13: FLY OUT TOWARDS EAST
1300 FLY IN FROM WEST

RUNWAY 31 FLY OUT TOWARDS WEST
3100 FLY IN FROM EAST

I spoke separately after the meeting to one of the pilots about safety risks with the existing proposed flight path. I guess in fine weather it is a bit easier to control. But this coast has a lot of bad impulsive weather events ,especially wind & rain , which need to be handled very carefully in crowded airspace.
